Two heavily upgraded stone cottages, sleeping 2/3 around a private courtyard inn the centre of the highly acclaimed vill
Description
These two cottage, graded four star by the English Tourism Council, were totally upgraded in 2002 following purchase by the current owners with little regard for expense; They are both one bedroomed, (one sleeping two with an en-suite, one sleeping three i.e. one double and if needed a single, giving the option of using as a twin bedroom) with a modern tasteful ambience. These two cottages have full sized bathrooms with showers over. They also have lovely and effective log effect stoves in the living room Both have fully controllable central heating, gorgeous real granite sinks, gloss worktops, leather suites and top of the range laminated floors of the highest quality (where not carpeted). In the courtyard there is a barbecue and laundry room and provision for off-road parking of cars. There is some limited outdoor seating area with flower borders. Most importantly housekeeping is our highest priority. In both cottages there are seven (!) personalised highly organised information folders, much praised, enabling guests to make the most of their stay. Weekly events lists are supplied between May and September.
Hartington is one of the most highly regarded villages in the Peak, famous for its creamery with shop selling genuine Stilton and other cheeses, geese pond, hall and fine old stone buildings. The approach down a long dale to the village from the main road really takes some beating. The River Dove is only a few hundred yards away and a very popular walk starts in the village, over some lovely meadows to the River, along the stretch known as Berefsford Dale, which in turn leads onto Wolfscote Dale and the most famous Dale of the Peak, Dovedale.
There are numerous footpaths and bridle ways in the immediate vicinity, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles, is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is just 1 mile from the cottages. Two further trails, the High Peak Trail and the Manifold Valley Trail (both of similar distance), are within 2 miles. These three tracks are ideal for family cycling as is the network of quiet minor roads, which can be accessed at numerous points along the trails. These former railway lines have much else to offer, not least quality views, but also interesting viaducts, steam beam engines and other remnant of the past.

This is the area of rolling countryside, dales, streams and rivers, limestone villages and dry-stone walls, which give the area so much character. Hartington's central position within the White Peak is confirmed by its equal distance, namely 11 miles, from Buxton, Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leek, all towns on the perimeter of the White Peak at different points on the compass.
