Knowl Cottage

Description

In centre of this highly acclaimed village superbly located in the heart of the White Peak area of the Peak District, this non-smoking, pet free historic stone cottage offers seclusion and peace. The Cottage was built over 500 years ago The 3 bedrooms and the 3 en-suites are all spacious, (two of the en-suites are in separate rooms). It was totally upgraded in 2002 with little regard for expense and thus graded the maximum 5 Star by the English Tourist Board. The living room boasts an Inglenook fireplace, mullioned windows, exposed beams. Elsewhere the original cruck beams (possibly 700 years old!) are exposed and there are many more character features. The walls are well over two feet thick and have a wonderful old style cottage feel in them. The superior kitchen is fully loaded and has gloss work-tops and real granite sink. Hartington, being superbly located in the Peak District is an extremely popular village during the day, many people coming to park up as it is the start of many excellent walks. The village is famous for its duck ponds and creamery, (famous cheese shop attached) and Old Hall. A footpath yards from the cottages takes you over some lovely meadows to reach the River Dove after 300 yards. Downstream along an excellent river footpath is Dovedale. There are three cycle/old railiway tracks within 3 miles. Whichever way you travel you remain within the best and most attractive part of the Peak District with gorgeous dales and hills.
